Dr. David Salvage, Experienced Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Brooklyn
Practicing psychiatry and psychotherapy in Brooklyn and Tribeca, Dr. David Salvage is an experienced and educated psychotherapist capable of treating a range of issues.
He received his M.D. at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine with distinguished honors in Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, and the History of Psychiatry. He went on to pursue residency training at New York University-Bellevue Hospital in New York city. He has been awarded a clinical teaching fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center and has completed psychoanalytic training and is a member of the I.P.A.
Dr. Salvage has held faculty positions at The New York University School of Medicine, The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and New York Medical College. Courses he has taught include An Evaluation of the Insanity Defense, Legal Aspects of Addictive Disorders, The Ability to Determine Psychiatric Capacity for Medical Decision Making, The Somatoform Spectrum of Disorders, The Interface of Psychiatry and the Law and other topics in Forensics medicine. Dr. Salvage was honored a “Teacher of the Year” and elected to the Faculty Senate of New York Medical College. His publications have appeared in a variety of psychiatric journals and anthologies, and he has presented at numerous national and international conferences.
Dr. Salvage has worked as a consultant for local mental health centers, schools, and prisons, as well as for large Fortune 500 companies, such as Goldman Sachs and Showtime. He has also hosted private attorneys in both criminal and civil matters.
Dr. Salvage is a member of The International Psychoanalytic Association, The American Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine and has been Board Certified by both the American Academy of Psychiatry as well as the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry.
Described by colleagues as wise, articulate and able to integrate a wide variety of viewpoints, Dr. Salvage has served on numerous committees and was the Co-Chair of the Beyond the Basic Curriculum Committee of the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. He is frequently sought out by professionals from a variety of disciplines for advice on psychiatric, legal and interpersonal issues.
Dr. Salvage does not participate in any insurance panels in order to provide for a more intensive focus on the patient. He and his staff can provide all necessary documentation that can be submitted to insurance programs for reimbursement.
